Fleeting Death: Space Pirates is a dark, hard science fiction space adventure following a band of space pirates known as "the Marauders". Hundreds of people go missing in the remote, treacherous region of space they inhabit. On one side is a corrupt, state-corporate society, and on the other is all the fearsome things which lurk in the outer darkness. Yearning for relaxation, they instead find themselves regularly tested from their technical skills to their logic.

It is the year 2527.

Space mining has finally been achieved. The resources then brought us space construction, free of the expenses of launches. Humanity became able to build large structures in space. What came next was an extremely costly and unreliable method of warp travel, allowing humanity to quickly visit other star systems. The sheltered earthlings of their techno-monoculture found themselves standing at the shore of a boundless frontier, the final frontier.

Humans and machines fight in a futile battle of survival in this inhospitable existence. Just to live on par with humans of the past, a spaceman requires a vast wealth and knowledge. Centuries ago, they would each be millionaires. Now, they are lucky to be indentured slaves to ruthless quintillionaires, who regard them as “parasites”. Even the brightest minds are expendable, with millions of others always waiting to take their place.

“The Sargasso”, also known as “Sector X2”, is a large cluster of star systems located on the very fringe of human settlement and 90 light-years from Earth. This sector has been hotly contested since the discovery of its once inhabitable world, Kragnul. Considered to be one of the worst sectors, the Sargasso is home to many criminals, black ops teams, madmen and anomalies.

Here, the space pirates known as “the Sargasso Marauders", are just trying to stay sane and survive.
